What's up, homies?
Welcome back to
Teach Me Tuesdays.
It has been brought to my attention from the member of my member of my staff.
There is people complaining about part of the video where I give the explanation about strumming.
And I don't know what to tell you other than do you not watch the video?
Do you not see that on the screen?
Probably right before I said this, there was something on the bottom that said, there's timestamps in the video that you can, if there's something specific you're looking for, you can jump
right to it.
Did you not read that part?
Did you not read the description where there's a bunch of timestamps everywhere?
Do I have to literally hold your hand?
I break down the timestamps and where specific parts of the song are.
I make the core charts for you to download it.
How much more hand holding do you think
VERSE
Today we are going to learn how to play
Tangata Uru Uru by
Rex Atarai and this was requested by
Liam.
So Liam, grab your kalele and let's go learn how to play this song.
Okay guys, so let's see.
One, two, three, four, five.
Five different chords but also two variations of the chords.
So in the beginning we're going to play a high
D.
We're going to cover the bottom two strings here on the fifth fret, the third string on the sixth fret, top string on the seventh fret.
So it's gonna start with a high
D like this and then we're gonna play a high
E which is gonna take this chord and we're gonna slide it up two frets to the seventh fret.
Okay, that's just how we play the high variations of
D and E and that's specifically for the very beginning in the intro.
The rest of the song we're just gonna play a regular
D, cover the top three strings here on the second fret.
We're gonna play
E cover the top three strings here on the fourth fret, bottom string on the second fret.
We're also going to play
A, cover the top string here second fret and then the third string on the first fret.
F sharp minor, we're going to take our ring finger here and cover the second string on the second fret.
And then we're going to play
A7 as well, we're just going to cover this third string on the first fret.
BRIDGE
Alright, homies, let's go over the structure of this song.
Actually, I lied because this song's not in
English and I don't understand what they're saying.
So I don't really know which part is what.
I only know that there's an introduction because that's the only part that sounds different instrumentally.
So there's an intro and then there's the rest of the song, but you don't have to worry because we're gonna go over how to play in the play-along.
VERSE
Hi guys, I just wanna give you a quick note about the strumming.
I play by ear, I learned and I taught myself how to play by listening to the music on the radio and then emulating it the best way I could.
The reason that I put the play along portion of the videos is so that you can watch what my hands are doing and copy it for yourself.
There's even a feature on
YouTube where you can slow down the video and I think that could also help is to watch it in a slower speed and you can see and listen for every time my fingers hit the strings.
I apologize that I wasn't properly educated.
I apologize that I am not an educator and I cannot properly tell you how to strum.
That is why I don't include strumming tutorials because I technically don't know how to strum.
I just hear what I hear and then I emulate it for myself.
Again, I apologize.
I'm truly sorry.
It is what it is.
Sorry.
Okay, so song is in a different language.
So just, I don't know, bear with me.
So in the beginning, it's going to be a picking, right?
And it's going to go
So we're just going to go down, up,
down, D and
E, and then we're going to go
E same way, and then
A.
And
we're going to repeat that twice for the intro, okay?
OUTRO

That's where you can make your request for a tutorial.
